Dear Brothers and Sisters of the Lake Mary Stake,
Happy March! So much has already happened this year. I hope you take a moment to reflect on your personal growth and the incredible work being done in our stake.
One of the most inspiring events so far has been our stake-wide service project, where we joined hands with members of other faiths and our community to build beds for children in need. As I toured the project, I asked if there would be enough places for these beds to go, and I was assured that there is a backlog of children still waiting for a bed to sleep in. What an incredible reminder of the real difference we can make! I was so proud to see so many of you working side by side, building not just beds but hope for those who need it most. In fact, the work went so quickly that the second shift nearly ran out of things to do! Well done! Here's a link to some pictures from the event. Be sure to share your own photos to our email so we can submit them to Salt Lake City as part of our stake history.
This year, our stake is focusing on the Gathering of Israel, and I can already feel the momentum. Last year, 36 individuals entered the covenant path and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost. That’s something to celebrate—but we can do even more! Our goal for 2025 is to make an extraordinary effort to see 80 people accept the gospel and begin their journey on the covenant path. It’s ambitious, but I have no doubt we can do it! In just the first few weeks of this year, we’ve already witnessed 15 baptisms—a remarkable start.
The mission is also seeing incredible growth. In December 2024, 76 people entered the waters of baptism—the highest number of convert baptisms in a decade. Then, in January, another 76 were baptized. The Lord is hastening His work, and we have the opportunity to be a part of it.
Many wards are participating in 40-day fasts to dedicate their missionary efforts to the Lord. Each day, a different member fasts and prays for missionary opportunities, keeping the spiritual momentum going for 40 days. What a powerful way to focus on what President Russell M. Nelson has called “the greatest work on the earth today”—the Gathering of Israel. I invite each of you to pray for your own missionary experiences. I promise that as we do, the Lord will place people in our paths who are ready to hear His word.
Below, you’ll find our Stake Focus and the Area Leadership Focus. Our stake has aligned its efforts with the vision of our Area Presidency, and we invite each of you to seek inspiration on how you can align your families, organizations, and wards with these goals. When we work together, united in purpose, we can accomplish truly great things.
I continue to be inspired by the faith and dedication of this stake. The ultimate goal is to see our wards thriving with 200+ members attending each week and for our branches to grow into wards. Ultimately, I would love to see a temple in Seminole County—what a blessing that would be!
Thank you for all you do. I have no doubt that as we move forward in faith, the Lord will magnify our efforts.
With love,
D. Fuller Haring
President
Throughout my life, many men and women whom I have regarded as great leaders have embraced the power of well-chosen books to refine their thinking and guide their actions. There’s even a time-honored tradition among military officers of maintaining a curated reading list—a “leadership bookshelf”—that offers a window into that leader’s personal philosophies and priorities.
A commitment to lifelong learning is beautifully echoed in scripture. In Doctrine and Covenants 88:118, we are counseled, “yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.” President Nelson has taught, “Your mind is precious! It is sacred. Therefore, the education of one's mind is also sacred. Indeed, education is a religious responsibility.”
The books on this list have influenced my own life, leadership style, and thought process to varying degrees. They are a diverse array of books—spanning spiritual insights, business strategies, and personal growth—that have influenced the way I approach everyday challenges and decisions. I don’t necessarily agree with everything each book has to offer, so I will do my best to highlight some of the parts that stood out to me.
Each month, I’ll share several selections from my personal bookshelf. You are welcome to read along and reflect and on the ideas that have shaped my journey. I hope these books offer you a small window into my heart and mind and inspire you on your own path of continuous learning and growth. I look forward to great discussions of good (and not so good) books that have helped shape a little piece of each of us.
The Heart of the Matter by President Russell M. Nelson
One book that has profoundly impacted my personal spiritual journey is The Heart of the Matter by President Russell M. Nelson. From a very young age, I learned the importance of following the prophet—a principle that has continually proven essential in my life. As Elder Allen D. Haynie reminded us in his April 2023 talk, A Living Prophet for the Latter Days:
“Brothers and sisters, unlike vintage comic books and classic cars, prophetic teachings do not become more valuable with age. That is why we should not seek to use the words of past prophets to dismiss the teachings of living prophets.”
— Elder Allen D. Haynie, A Living Prophet for the Latter Days (April 2023)
The importance of modern-day revelation and staying aligned with the guidance of our living prophet is one of my most important priorities as a husband, father, and stake president. Reading The Heart of the Matter firmly established to President Nelson’s prophetic philosophy—especially his insights on the Atonement, the laws of the gospel, and what it means to live a Christ-centered life.
A few chapters in the book really spoke to me:
Chapter 7: Respect the Spiritual Strength of Women – An incredible reminder that neither is the man without the woman nor the woman without the man in our Heavenly Father’s eyes.
Chapter 10: Know That With God You Can Accomplish the Impossible – There is no resisting Heavenly power. If the Lord asks us to do it, He will prepare a way.
Chapter 14: Learn to Receive Personal Revelation – Possibly the most important skill to develop and learn how it functions within the context of modern day prophets.
I chose this book as my first selection to share with the stake because I believe that aligning our lives with the prophetic priorities of President Nelson is critical to our spiritual and personal progress. I hope that by sharing this book, you'll gain insight into my priorities and find inspiration for your own journey of continuous learning and growth. Enjoy!

Brethren, March’s Come, Follow Me study reminds us of our sacred duty as priesthood holders to follow Christ’s example. We learn about His Atonement, personal revelation, and the power of the priesthood in our lives. As we lead in our homes, serve in our callings, and support one another, we must rely on faith and obedience.
The Lord has given us the tools to overcome challenges, bless our families, and strengthen His kingdom. Let’s commit to deepening our discipleship, seeking revelation, and acting with courage and integrity. Together, we can become the men God needs us to be.
Our Stake Relief Society 183rd Birthday Celebration, “THE JOY ONLY HE GIVES,” is happening Thursday, March 27th, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lake Mary Stake Center. March’s Come, Follow Me study teaches us about Christ’s Atonement, personal revelation, and the power of the priesthood. As young disciples, we have the opportunity to strengthen our faith, serve others, and stand for truth. Life brings challenges, but through faith and obedience, we can overcome anything. Christ is our perfect example—He showed us how to love, lead, and minister.
Let’s support each other, develop our priesthood power, and seek revelation to guide our lives. As we follow Him, we will grow into the men He knows we can become. Stay strong, stay faithful!

In March, our Come, Follow Me study focuses on the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the power of revelation, the restoration of the priesthood, faith in trials, and becoming true disciples of Christ. As you study these topics, consider how Christ’s Atonement personally strengthens you. Seek revelation in your life—Heavenly Father speaks to you. The priesthood blesses and strengthens us, and through faith, we can overcome any challenge.
Strive to be a disciple, not just in word, but in action. As you deepen your understanding, let these principles shape your choices, testimony, and daily life. Stay committed, stay strong, and keep growing in the gospel!
End of Third Term on March 12, 2025
During the month of March your children will have the opportunity to learn more about the Savior, the sacrament, and the hymns in their primary lessons. The Come Follow Me manual has helpful ideas for teaching children these principles. Their primary teacher will use some of the ideas, but they don’t have the time to do them all. You can use them at home or have your children teach you! In addition, the primary songs highlighted this month are “Every Star is Different” and “When I Am Baptized”. Your children are precious!
March’s Come, Follow Me study invites us to draw closer to Christ by strengthening our faith, serving others, and trusting in His plan. In a world full of distractions, we can find true peace and purpose by living His gospel.
As we face important decisions about our future, careers, and relationships, let’s seek the Lord’s guidance and rely on His promises. Through daily scripture study, sincere prayer, and uplifting friendships, we can become the disciples He needs us to be. Let’s support each other and move forward with faith in His perfect plan for us.

In March, Come, Follow Me guides us through powerful principles, including Christ’s Atonement (D&C 19), personal revelation (D&C 25), priesthood authority (D&C 27), faith in trials (D&C 24), and true discipleship (D&C 20). These teachings are not just doctrines—they are invitations to change, grow, and strengthen our relationship with the Savior.
As we study, let’s ask: How does Christ’s sacrifice affect my daily life? How can I better recognize and act on revelation? How does priesthood power bless my home and family? Gospel learning is meant to be applied.
Let’s bring our insights to class discussions, strengthen each other, and find ways to live these truths daily. As we do, we will come closer to Christ and deepen our testimony of His restored gospel.
The temple is the house of the Lord, a place of peace, revelation, and eternal blessings. Though it may be 3 ½ hours away, the sacrifice to attend is worth every effort. Each visit brings us closer to the Savior, strengthens our families, and blesses those waiting on the other side.
When we prioritize the temple, we receive divine guidance, increased spiritual strength, and greater joy. Plan your visits, invite family and friends, and make temple worship a sacred part of your life. Even small steps—family history work, indexing, and preparing names—help you stay connected to temple blessings.
The Lord sees your efforts and will pour out blessings upon you. Let’s commit to making the journey, strengthening our faith, and experiencing the joy that only the temple can bring!

Sharing the gospel is one of the greatest ways we can follow Christ and bless others. Whether we serve full-time missions or as everyday disciples, we are all missionaries.
March’s Come, Follow Me study teaches us about Christ’s Atonement, revelation, faith, and discipleship—principles that empower us to share His message with confidence and love. There are people around us searching for truth, hope, and peace. A simple invitation to church, a testimony shared, or a small act of service can change someone’s life.
As we pray for opportunities, the Lord will guide us to those who are prepared. Let’s be bold, open our hearts, and share His light. The joy of the gospel is meant for everyone—let’s help bring it to the world, one person at a time!
